Court records and obtained information outline Snapchat contact, lakeside meeting, grand jury indictment, and additional background
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Public court and jail records confirm that Travis James Rod, 20, was arrested on July 31, 2024, in the Valley Ranch / Market Place Dr. area of New Caney, Texas. He was charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony under Texas law, and released on a $30,000 bond.
According to a sworn affidavit filed in the 221st District Court, the alleged victim — identified only as H.B. due to her age — was 13 years old at the time of the incident. Court documents state H.B. told investigators she met Travis Rod on Snapchat, where he claimed to be 17 years old but was, in fact, 20.
On February 22, 2024, H.B. was reportedly picked up by Travis Rod in a blue Volkswagen Jetta. The affidavit states Travis Rod gave her flowers and drove to a location near Lake Conroe “to look at the boats.”
H.B. told investigators Travis Rod pressured her into sexual contact during the meeting. She was later dropped off at a convenience store.
Prosecutors presented the case to a Montgomery County grand jury, which issued an indictment for indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Public records confirm Travis Rod was arrested in New Caney on July 31, 2024, and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was set at $30,000.
Just weeks before his July 31 arrest, Travis Rod had already been in custody for unrelated charges. Public records show that on July 6, 2024, he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at 1:13 p.m. after being charged with multiple traffic and vehicle-related offenses, including failing to maintain financial responsibility (no insurance), operating an unregistered motor vehicle, speeding more than ten percent over the posted limit, and racing on a highway.
Booking records list him as 20 years old, 5’10” tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Public jail records confirm Travis Rod spent several months in custody before being released on bond in December 2024. Court filings indicate prosecutors have offered him an eight-year plea deal. As of the latest filings, no trial date has been set.
Daily Tea confirmed that Travis Rod is currently employed by Saxon Roofing & Repair and has been knocking doors as part of his job. When the company owner was confronted about employing an individual arrested for a sexual offense and allowing him to perform door-to-door sales, the owner allegedly responded, “hopefully he can beat it.”
Under Texas law, indecency with a child by sexual contact is punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted.
Travis Rod is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
